Spring 2014 NOSB meeting marked with protests, an arrest and controversial USDA powergrab

Posted: May 9, 2014

The beginning of the Spring 2014 National Organics Standards Board Meeting in San Antonio, Texas, was marked by protests, an arrest and tumultuous parliamentary maneuvers.

The meeting was opened by its new co-chair, Miles McEvoy of the USDA, who claims the right to co-chair the NOSB meeting as one of the new changes implemented by the USDA.

This "power grab" was challenged almost immediately by meeting attendees from the Organic Consumers Association (OCA). Several OCA members moved to the front of the podium and began to chant "Don't change Sunset." The NOSB's Sunset Program was designed to allow non-natural ingredients to be phased out of organic agriculture as safe alternatives are introduced; however, the USDA controversially changed the program's rules so that non-organic ingredients can only be phased out with a majority vote, completely turning the program upside-down.

The OCA's protest led to political director Alexis Baden-Meyer's arrest, which you can see in the video above.

The Organic Foods Production Act of 1990 (OFPA) clearly mandates that the NOSB "shall select a Chairperson for the Board," so the USDA has no authority to appoint McEvoy as a co-chair of the board. NOSB member Jay Feldman, executive director of Beyond Pesticides, called for a point of order, a parliamentary move made when procedure rules appear to have been broken, to challenge McEvoy's co-chair position.

The meeting was temporarily suspended as USDA staff discussed the situation and McEvoy made some calls on his cell phone. He then approached Feldman and told him that he would cancel the entire meeting unless Feldman retracted his parliamentary move. Not wanting to waste the thousands of hours in preparation and tens of thousands of dollars spent on the meeting in private and taxpayer funds, Feldman withdrew his objection when the meeting resumed.

Just days before the meeting, two of the primary authors of the OFPA, Vermont Senator Patrick Leahy and Representative Peter DeFazio of Oregon, urged USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack to reverse the changes made to the Sunset process, saying the move was made "in conflict with both the letter and intent of the statute."

Several other important topics were discussed at the Spring 2014 NOSB meeting, which you can read about at the Cornucopia Institute's website.

New federal climate change report uses junk science to peddle alarmism

Posted: May 8, 2014

(http://www.climatedepot.com)The Obama administration has recently issued a new Federal Assessment of Climate Change which says that, due to "climate change" driven by carbon emissions from fossil fuels, "heat waves, huge floods, powerful storms, droughts and rising seas are on the verge of killing millions of us and destroying our civilization," wrote author John Coleman on his blog. The picture painted by the report implies that, before industrialization, the climate was steady and temperatures were just right.

However, contradicting the concept of "climate change" is the fact that Earth's climate has never been "normal" or stable; it has always been changing. Powerful storms, floods, droughts, heatwaves, ice ages and more have continuously occurred throughout Earth's history.

The "greenhouse effect" theory, in which fossil fuel exhaust causes temperatures to skyrocket, has failed to be verified or be supported by evidence. But the agenda-driven, politically funded scientists and lobbyists who've built a career around "climate change" refuse to give up the $2.6 billion a year in federal grants for climate research, so they continue to perpetuate their junk science.

After it was found that temperature data don't actually support "global warming" (see the graphic above), they changed it to "climate change," and now they "blame every weather and climate event on CO2 despite the hard, cold fact that the 'radiative forcing' theory they built their claims on has totally failed to verify," Coleman wrote.

The Heartland Institutes 9th International Conference on Climate Change will take place July 7-9 in Las Vegas. It will attract thousands of people like John Coleman who aim to debunk junk climate science, many of them with PhDs and on the faculties of major universities. Coleman will be a speaker at the breakfast session on Tuesday, July 8. You can learn more about the conference here: ClimateConference.Heartland.org.

Coleman wrote further:

A group of the powerful Ph.D.'s in the group have recently published a complete scientific document that totaling destroys the climate change alarmism of the US Democrat Party and the United Nation's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. You can find that publication on line at http://climatechangereconsidered.org/.

Public school students forced to read violent sex fiction, father arrested for asking why

Posted: May 8, 2014

William Baer is a hardworking attorney whose work in New York City's prosecutor's office has involved some of the country's most unsavory crimes. He is also a loving husband and father to three children, including a 14-year-old who attends ninth grade in the Gilford, New Hampshire, School District.

And Baer was recently arrested for the first time in his life. He has been charged with "disorderly conduct" for going over the two-minute speech limit at a Gilford School Board meeting. What makes this incident even more outrageous are the events that led up to it.

Baer decided to speak at the Board meeting after learning about a controversial book that was assigned to Gilford students, including Baer's 14-year-old daughter, to read. The book, Nineteen Minutes, explicitly details a fictional school shooting, homicide, gun violence, sexual acts featuring minors and a rape scene. Baer was understandably upset that his young daughter was assigned such a graphic book with neither his knowledge nor consent, so he contacted the school's principal, who refused to meet with him or speak on the issue. Baer had no other way to remedy the situation but to take it to the School Board.

But the Gilford School Board was informed of Baer's intention to raise the issue at their regular Monday meeting, so they took a number of steps not taken in the past to prevent actually having to deal with the problem.

Douglas J. Hagmann wrote:

First, they stationed a Gilford Municipal police officer inside the meeting venue "to keep order." Then, they limited all public comments to two minutes only, and refused to answer any questions of the attendees. Ostensibly, this was done because of the multitudes of those present to speak out against the book, yet not more than a few dozen people were actually present. Also, the number who actually wished to speak remained in the single digits, including Mr. Baer. Accordingly, any sensible person would question the rationale behind such an arbitrary policy instituted for this particular meeting.

When Baer was permitted to speak he noted that parents normally have to "opt-in" for their child to read a book such as Nineteen Minutes, but in this case, parents had to "opt-out" if they didn't want their child reading a book, though they weren't even made aware of it until a week after it had been assigned.

He asked the principal present at the meeting to read page 313 of the book, which describes what many would call a rape scene involving two high school students. The principal refused to read the book, as did all other board members, calling it "inappropriate." Baer then attempted to ask the board members legitimate questions, but they reused to answer his questions, saying they would only allow speakers to make statements within a two-minute timeframe.

Ultimately, Baer exceeded the two-minute mark by 18 seconds. The school board members gave him a stern warning and made it clear that they would not address his concerns, so he peacefully sat down.

Later in the meeting, another man complained about parents such as Baer "dictating what you can and cannot read and what my kids cannot read." Baer took offense at this false accusation, and explained that no one is trying to censor the book, but informed parental consent should be required for children to read explicit sexual and violent material.

After what appeared to be a hand signal from a board member, the police officer who was mysteriously guarding the meeting for the first time in recent memory walked over to Baer's seat, arrested him and escorted him out of the building. The officer appeared hesitant to make the arrest, or follow through with it once outside -- he even let Baer know that he supported his stance on the issue -- but he proceeded with the arrest anyway, on a charge of "disorderly conduct."

Watch the video above to learn more about the meeting and see the arrest for yourself. You can also learn more by reading Hagmann's full report here.

Senator Ted Cruz releases report of 76 unlawful Obama administration actions

Posted: May 8, 2014

(http://dailycaller.com)On Wednesday, Republican Senator Ted Cruz released "The Legal Limit Report No. 4," a definitive list of 76 unlawful actions and abuses of power made by the Obama administration.

Cruz began his report writing, "Of all the troubling aspects of the Obama presidency, none is more dangerous than the President's persistent pattern of lawlessness, his willingness to disregard the written law and instead enforce his own policies via executive fiat."

"President Obama has openly defied [rule of law] by repeatedly suspending, delaying, and waiving portions of the laws that he is charged to enforce. When President Obama disagreed with federal immigration laws, he instructed the Justice Department to cease enforcing the laws. He did the same thing with federal welfare law, drug laws, and the federal Defense of Marriage Act," Cruz wrote. "In the more than two centuries of our nation's history, there is simply no precedent for the White House wantonly ignoring federal law and asking others to do the same."

The Daily Caller obtained a copy of the report and published a list of eight of the 76 illegal actions reported by Cruz:

1. "Obama implemented portions of the DREAM Act by executive action"

2. "Ended some terror asylum restrictions"

3. "Recognized same sex marriage in Utah despite a Supreme Court stay on a court order allowing the institution"

4. "Illegally revealed the existence of sealed indictments in the Benghazi investigation"

5. "Illegally delayed Obamacare verification of eligibility for healthcare subsidies"

6. "Ordered Boeing to fire 1,000 employees in South Carolina and shut down a new factory because it was non-union"

7. "Terminated the pensions of 20,000 non-union Delphi employees in the GM bankruptcy."

8. "Government agencies are engaging in 'Operation Choke Point,' where the government asks banks to 'choke off' access to financial services for customers engaging in conduct the Administration does not like--such as 'ammunition sales.'"

A copy of Cruz's report detailing all 76 illegal actions can be downloaded in PDF or TXT format here. You can click here to read the full article from The Daily Caller.

Using statistics from the Bureau of Labor Statistics' website, which have since been removed, it has has been found that America's actual unemployment rate is 59%! This is nearly 10 times the federal government's claimed 6.3% unemployment rate, which shows how easily these numbers can be manipulated. Watch the video above to learn more.

French Senate gives final approval on GMO corn ban

Posted: May 7, 2014

(http://www.reuters.com)Genetically modified organisms (GMO) have been linked to environmental issues, such as increased pesticide usage, superweeds and loss of biodiversity, and health problems like liver and kidney damage and tumor formation. For these reasons, France has already placed multiple temporary bans on GMO corn from being cultivated in the country.

France recently took another step in protecting the health of its citizens. On Monday, the French Senate gave final approval to a law prohibiting the cultivation of any GMO corn. The law applies to all current GMO corn varieties as well as any that might be approved by the European Union in the future.

Also on Monday, France's highest court "rejected an emergency procedure begun by French growers to annul [a] decree banning MON810 maize," Reuters reported. That ban was instated earlier this year to prevent farmers from planting GMO corn before a full ban could be approved.

Is nuclear power safe, affordable or clean?

Posted: May 6, 2014

(http://21stcenturywire.com)The nuclear industry lobby goes hand in hand with mainstream media to disseminate propaganda extolling the virtues of nuclear energy, and downplaying its dangers.

One example of this is an article by The Economist which reported that animals around Chernobyl have a higher survival rate than animals around Fukushima, supposedly indicating that the animals "seem to have evolved, just as Darwin would have predicted."

Timothy Mousseau and a team of scientists went to Chernobyl's exclusion zone to investigate wildlife, and what they found was that birds there tended to have a higher amount of antioxidants in their blood and feathers, allowing them to "mop up radiation," The Economist said.

A major evolutionary change occurring in just 28 years is pushing it, but the report nonetheless implies that radiation is essentially harmless, since life can adapt to it so quickly. So have no fear about Fukushima or radiation contaminating the food supply! Without that fear, what's to stop the nuclear industry from continuing to profit from environmental degradation?

Well, there's the economic factor. 21st Century Wire reported:

The most nuclear-intensive country in the world for power production, France, from 2013, has set a yearly rise of power prices of 10% for at least the next 3 years, probably continued after 2017, in an attempt to start paying the economic damage from its nuclear binge. France's official CPI is about 1.5% annual, meaning that power prices will rise at 7 times the official inflation rate.

As many as 25 of its 60-strong reactor fleet, simply due to age, will have to start being decommissioned through 2025-2040. The cost estimates for this are unsure, but the French General Accounting Office (Cour des Comptes) in Jan 2012 estimated about 3.8 billion euros for each
[nuclear power plant] -- and the French government is now trying to amass a decommissioning and dismantling fund. Inevitably this will mean further decline of power-intensive industries and fuel poverty.

The Fukushima disaster of 2011 in Japan has had a wide number of estimates for its total costs through the next 15 -- 20 years, running to a consensus average around $150 -- $175 billion, and that cost will surely increase as every year of inaction passes by.

Total accumulated costs from the Chernobyl disaster of 1986, to date, for the governments of Ukraine, Belarus and Russia are placed in the region of at least $350 billion by sources including the UN Economic Commission for Europe (ECE).

The fantasy claim that nuclear power is "cheap" cannot resist these real world facts.

Furthermore, the claim that nuclear energy is a "clean" alternative to fossil fuels doesn't hold up when you factor in "the total dependence on fossil fuels for uranium mining, transport, fuel fabrication, nuclear waste transport and disposal, as well as the building and servicing of" nuclear power plants, which all contribute to CO2 emissions.

If you wave the American flag, you are now racist

Posted: May 6, 2014

(http://www.wnd.com)In the latest example of the direction our country has been heading, Americans waving the stars and stripes have now been deemed "racist."

On Monday, Cinco de Mayo, a small group of protestors waved American flags outside of Live Oak High School, which has banned American flags on the Mexican holiday. The controversy began in 2010 when Hispanic students threatened violence against students wearing American flag-themed clothing; rather than address the students threatening violence, the school's administration decided to ban the American flag and sent students who were wearing it home.

The 9th Circuit later upheld this decision, calling the American flag a "symbol of racial animus."

Patriots gathered in front of the school on Monday to celebrate the American flag and protest the suppression of the First Amendment. Social media users reacted predictably.

"What's wrong with these white people holding up American flags in Morgan hill??? Racist a-holes," wrote Gia Lee in a feed monitored by Twitchy.

Davey D wrote: "Shout out to the racist a-- adults, so-called patriots who are posted up at Live Oak HS in Morgan Hill protesting Cinco de Mayo #idiots." Although they weren't protesting Cinco de Mayo, just the fact that American students aren't allowed to display pride in their own country due to violent threats from other students.

Ivan Mora commented: "F--- your American flag. Racist as f---s. I'll always have pride with my Mexican flag but not the American one."

One might wonder why someone with such pride for the Mexican flag but such disdain for America's heritage would want to live in this country at all.

That the protestors were called "racist" is predictable, of course, as the mainstream media routinely label any with whom they disagree or wish to demonize as "racist." Doing so incites racial tensions, manipulating people's emotions and obfuscating important issues, as well as destroying the credibility of those deemed "racist," making them less of a person and less likely to be listened to. The media did it with George Zimmerman when they tried to portray him as a "white" man who killed a young black man. And they are doing it now with Cliven Bundy, whose social commentary using outdated language has been cherry-picked to paint him as a racist.

But calling patriots "racist" for waving the American flag is a new low.

Is Vampire Therapy the cure for aging?

Posted: May 5, 2014

New scientific evidence espousing what has been called "Vampire Therapy" shows that the secret to immortality could be found in youthful blood.

Health Ranger Mike Adams joins Next News Network's Gary Franchi in an interview about the startling new therapy, and he makes an eery prediction.

"Vampire Therapy is the new craze about injecting young blood into an older person," Franchi said before introducing Mike Adams.

"[S]tudies involving mice show that, if you take the blood of young mice and inject it into aging mice that suffer from various diseases, those diseases tend to be reversed, because of what's in the blood," Adams explained.

He went on to say that it's surprising that this evidence hadn't come out sooner, considering that a person is essentially made up of their blood, with all their nutrients, hormones and other compounds, and since aging is a biological phenomenon with a built-in clock in the human body, it would only make sense that young blood would reverse the effects of aging.

"But there's a spooky factor in all of this, of course," Mike continued. "[W]hat if wealthy people started paying for or kidnapping young people to take their blood to put it into their own bodies as an anti-aging protocol?" There is a rumor, which may or may not be true, that Kim Jong-Il actually did this while he was in power, and it's possible that other wealthy or powerful people would seek to do the same thing.

Myths, although embellished, are usually rooted in history, and there are plenty of myths regarding the wealthy or powerful taking the blood of children for their own youth. And though these myths might not be true, they show that there "has been some recognition of the inherent vitality of young blood throughout the history of Western civilization.

The scientific study identified a protein, GDF11, that could play a part in young blood's anti-aging effect; however, exercise-related hormones, vitamin D (which is generally higher in young people) and various other factors regarding the blood of young people could also contribute to anti-aging effects.

Toward the end of the video, Adams made this shocking prediction:

"[Young, healthy people] will be able to sell their blood to rich, wealthy, older people who are suffering from disease, who will buy that blood as a lifesaving medicine. So young blood can actually be medicine. It can have anti-cancer properties. It can have anti-Alzheimer's properties. It can literally transform your body and your health, and I think we'll see a marketplace opening up for people to buy and sell blood. Very bizarre, but it can happen."

Global web advertising scheme exposed by whistleblower?

Posted: May 2, 2014

Next News Network has published a video report revealing that Google may have been ripping off its Adsense customers for years. Google Adsense allows companies and content producers to generate revenue through online advertisements, but a whistleblower who says he was a Google employee stated, "We were told to go and look into the publishers accounts, and if any publisher had accumulated earnings exceeding $5000 and was near a payout or in the process of a payout, we were to ban the account right away and reverse the earnings back."

According to the whistleblower, Google ranked content producers by a color code that indicated how much they earned each month, making it easier to go after the top earners. Google maintained this system from 2009 to at least 2012, but it may be ongoing.

Next News Network reported, "While some advertisers stayed within the rules and were banned, others violated the terms of service and were retained. If proven true, this revelation shows that [G]oogle was [selectively] [enforcing] their policies on an yet to be disclosed bias to the content creators."

In response, Google released statements which read, "This description of our AdSense policy enforcement process is a complete fiction. The color-coding and 'extreme quality control' programs the author describes don't exist."

Google has been making its services and policies less transparent in recent years, stonewalling inquiries regarding AdSense thefts. The whistleblower made his allegations anonymously and without evidence, but he says he has hard proof to back up the claims, which will only be revealed during a class action lawsuit.

Wikipedia should create new policies to protect scientific discourse about holistic medicine - Sign the Petition!

Posted: May 2, 2014

(http://www.change.org)A petition to change Wikipedia's policies to remove censorship of holistic healing practices has recently been launched by the Association for Comprehensive Energy Psychology. The petition, as seen at Change.org, reads:

Wikipedia is widely used and trusted. Unfortunately, much of the information related to holistic approaches to healing is biased, misleading, out-of-date, or just plain wrong. For five years, repeated efforts to correct this misinformation have been blocked and the Wikipedia organization has not addressed these issues. As a result, people who are interested in the benefits of Energy Medicine, Energy Psychology, and specific approaches such as the Emotional Freedom Techniques, Thought Field Therapy and the Tapas Acupressure Technique, turn to your pages, trust what they read, and do not pursue getting help from these approaches which research has, in fact, proven to be of great benefit to many. This has serious implications, as people continue to suffer with physical and emotional problems that might well be alleviated by these approaches.

Larry Sanger, co-founder of Wikipedia, left the organization due to concerns about its integrity. He stated: "In some fields and some topics, there are groups who 'squat' on articles and insist on making them reflect their own specific biases. There is no credible mechanism to approve versions of articles."

This is exactly the case with the Wikipedia pages for Energy Psychology, Energy Medicine, acupuncture, and other forms of complementary/alternative medicine (CAM), which are currently skewed to a negative, unscientific view of these approaches despite numerous rigorous studies in recent years demonstrating their effectiveness. These pages are controlled by a few self-appointed "skeptics" who serve as de facto censors for Wikipedia. They clothe their objections in the language of the narrowest possible understanding of science in order to inhibit open discussion of innovation in health care. As gatekeepers for the status quo, they refuse discourse with leading edge research scientists and clinicians or, for that matter, anyone with a different point of view. Fair-minded referees should be given the responsibility of monitoring these important areas.

You can visit Change.org to sign the petition. By doing so, you will pledge not to donate to Wikipedia's fundraising efforts until changes have been made to allow unbiased moderators to monitor pages related to holistic medicine and alternative healing approaches.

America is sliding toward fascism, losing freedom of press, Rob Schneider warns

Posted: May 2, 2014

(http://philadelphia.cbslocal.com)Comedian Rob Schneider recently joined Chris Stigall on Talk Radio 1210 WPHT to talk about how comedians struggle in today's political environment.

Schneider warned Stigall about the dangerous path he sees the country on:

"Democracies don't end well. We are sliding very fast towards fascism. It's an ugly kind of thing. There's this kind of mob mentality that we have to be careful of."

He also said that comedians are pressured to align themselves with one side of the political spectrum:

"There's a polarization that's happening... I do think you look can look at government and go, 'Wow, it is out of control now,' and if you do criticize or tend to be not directly along a liberal stand, you can get murdered."

"There's not one segment of business under the Obama administration that hasn't been hurt," Schneider said, citing a Fortune 500 company CEO. Furthermore, "he attacks for-profit schools, which is totally an elitist thing from a guy that went to Harvard. I think for free, by the way."

He also criticized mainstream media not standing up for the American people:

"We don't really have freedom of the press. It's owned by about eight different companies, and it doesn't really express or help the average American."

Newly declassified emails reveal Obama Administration's PR cover-up of Benghazi

Posted: May 2, 2014

(http://www.judicialwatch.org)Judicial Watch reports that a newly declassified email shows former "White House Deputy Strategic Communications Adviser Ben Rhodes and other Obama administration public relations officials attempting to orchestrate a campaign to 'reinforce' President Obama and to portray the Benghazi consulate terrorist attack as being 'rooted in an Internet video, and not a failure of policy.'"

The email was included in a set of documents regarding then-UN Ambassador Susan Rice's talking points on Benghazi, which Judicial Watch had sought since October 18, 2012, and were released June 21, 2013, as a result of a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit.

One of the goals listed in Rhodes' email: "To underscore that these protests are rooted in an Internet video, and not a broader failure of policy"

Notice how he refers to the attack as a "protest." He expanded on the "Internet video" scenario in a section titled "Top-lines":

[W]e've made our views on this video crystal clear. The United States government had nothing to do with it. We reject its message and its contents. We find it disgusting and reprehensible. But there is absolutely no justification at all for responding to this movie with violence. And we are working to make sure that people around the globe hear that message.

The email also instructed recipients to refer to Obama as "steady and statesmanlike."

An email from Payton Knopf to Susan Rice noted that State Department spokesperson Victoria Nuland revealed in a press briefing that the attack was well planned:

Responding to a question about whether it was an organized terror attack, Toria said that she couldn't speak to the identity of the perpetrators but that it was clearly a complex attack.

Despite this, Rice appeared on mainstream media programs, still claiming that it had been a spontaneous protest:

[B]ased on the best information we have to date, what our assessment is as of the present is in fact what began spontaneously in Benghazi [was] a reaction to what had transpired some hours earlier in Cairo where, of course, as you know, there was a violent protest outside of our embassy-sparked by this hateful video.

That statement contradicts contemporaneous emails which dramatically described the incident as an "attack," including this one from Senior Advisor Eric Pelofsky to Susan Rice:

As reported, the Benghazi compound came under attack and it took a bit of time for the 'Annex' colleagues and Libyan February 17 brigade to secure it. One of our colleagues was killed -- IMO Sean Smith. Amb Chris Stevens, who was visiting Benghazi this week is missing. U.S. and Libyan colleagues are looking for him

"Now we know the Obama White House's chief concern about the Benghazi attack was making sure that President Obama looked good," said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. "And these documents undermine the Obama administration's narrative that it thought the Benghazi attack had something to do with protests or an Internet video. Given the explosive material in these documents, it is no surprise that we had to go to federal court to pry them loose from the Obama State Department."

Protect your skin from these five toxic chemicals in deodorant

Posted: May 1, 2014

(http://readynutrition.com)Our skin is our largest organ, and as such, we need to take measures to protect it from harmful chemicals. Many fragrances and cosmetic products contain toxic chemicals that can lead to cancers, tumors, bronchial issues and other health problems.

According to the National Cancer Society, "Reports have suggested that these products contain harmful substances, which can be absorbed through the skin or enter the body through nicks caused by shaving. Some scientists have also proposed that certain ingredients in underarm antiperspirants or deodorants may be related to breast cancer because they are applied frequently to an area next to the breast."

Some of the harmful chemicals in deodorant include aluminum, which may disrupt hormones and cause breast cancer, prostate cancer and Alzheimer's; parabens, which disrupt hormones and may lead to cancers and organ toxicity; propylene glycol, which damages the central nervous system, liver and heart and causes skin irritations; triclosan, which is classified as a pesticide and can create potential carcinogens and disrupt the endocrine system; and steareths, whose manufacturing process produces carcinogenic 1,4-dioxanes.

"Mineral salts with active ingredients, such as ammonium or potassium alum work by constricting the protein in sweat so that bacteria have less to feed on," Tess Pennington wrote for Ready Nutrition. "Clay minerals, such as bentonite, and natural powders like cornstarch or arrowroot help absorb moisture. Essential oils working in conjunction with natural astringents (witch hazel, alcohol, etc.) have also been shown to help evaporate moisture on the skin and constrict pores. Another alternative is to make your own deodorant."

You can search Natural News for more information on harmful chemicals and cosmetics, including homemade deodorant recipes here and here. Click here to read Pennington's full article and her natural deodorant recipe.

Dark Wallet intends to secure anonymity for Bitcoin users

If the program works as planned, it could obsolete impending regulations aimed at tying individuals' identities to bitcoin ownership.

"This is a way of using bitcoin that mocks every attempt to sprinkle it with regulation," says Cody Wilson, one of Dark Wallet's two 26-year-old organizers. "It's a way to say to the government 'You've set yourself up to regulate bitcoin. Regulate this.'"

(http://www.robedwards.com)The UK environment secretary, Owen Paterson, has admitted to breaking an agreement he made to inform European ministers of Scotland's opposition to genetically modified crops.

The Sunday Herald reported, "[Paterson] promised the Scottish environment minister, Paul Wheelhouse, that he would say that Scotland took a different view on GM from Westminster during important negotiations at the European Union's Environment Council in Brussels."

But Paterson then failed to bring up Scotland's position on GMOs, purportedly because he "used the wrong speaking notes."

While being questioned by Scottish Parliament Members, Paterson said it was "unfortunate" that he didn't uphold his agreement. He stated, "I talked to Paul beforehand, we agreed the speaking note and I have to confess I think I read the preceding one."

Paterson is an ardent supporter of GMOs and has been pushing for them to be fully embraced in Europe, saying that the continent would otherwise become "the museum of world farming." The Scottish government, meanwhile, is concerned about the environmental and economic impacts of GMOs and wants regional autonomy for countries to decide for themselves whether to grow them or not.

"This was the one thing that both the Scottish government and our counterparts in the Welsh Assembly government wanted raised, yet Mr Paterson didn't mention it," said Wheelhouse. "This makes a mockery of the claim that Scotland is properly represented in Brussels by Westminster."

"How can our ministers trust any UK government minister who says he will take their views into account but when it comes to crunch negotiations ignore their previous pledges?" he asked.
